Talk of the hair

I am forever experimenting with my hair. When I chose to fully have a Vintage style, I knew the hair was important therefore I'm always trying to discover new ways to roll my hair. I always look to some of my favourite Old Hollywood stars for hair inspiration, last year it was Rita Hayworth with red hair and very voluminous curls. I also tried the '1950s Set' inspired by the gorgeous Marilyn Monroe. This time I wanted to go for something that can be played with so I've tried the very curly bob. This time I have been inspired by Hedy Lamarr and Paulette Goddard.

I find this style so easy to do. For me I use bendy foam rollers, which are ever so easy to sleep in. They can be purchased from almost everywhere but I found best on Amazon.co.uk.

I use the smallest size rollers for the front and top of my head, I also take quite small sections. For the remaining back and bottom I use the medium rollers, again in quite small sections. I always make sure that my hair is in a centre parting when doing so. If you ever find your hair hard to set, apply a generous amount of mouse beforehand or a setting lotion. I much prefer mouse. When you have rolled your hair, make sure to wrap on a headscarf it just helps to stop the rollers falling out, it's also a little more comfortable.
After a good nights sleep, remove the rollers carefully. The hair will still be in a centre parting which it can stay in or you can comb into a side parting, as I like to. When in a preferred parting a softly brush the curls for extra volume, I like to take caution to avoid any frizz. I finish with a generous amount of hairspray.

The great thing about this style as it looks fabulous with a hat.

This style can also be glammed up with a beautiful hairclip or comb. I chose my favourite hair feather for decoration.

I would love to hear or see any of your favourite vintage hair styles! :)

A week in photo's..

I haven't done a proper post in a few days and so here are a few little snaps of what i have been up to or have purchased over the past week or so. :) I went to the fantastic Vintage Fair in Woodbridge last Saturday and I always come back with a few bargains! Last Thursday I also organised and was in a small Fashion Show showing some of my Vintage collection mainly consisting of my dresses and handbags. I was quite nervous at first but I had alot of fun, a few ladies have a couple of vintage coats and handbags to give me so yay! Doing such an event has slightly inspired me and eventually i would love to host some Vintage events where people can shop, drink, eat and learn a little about Vintage. Just an idea!

Beautiful Vintage Lace Dress from the Woodbridge Vintage Fair. £25. So darling..

Vintage Pill Box Hat. £4.50 Woodbridge Vintage Hair. Such a bargain.

On a trip to Westfield Stratford and the wonderful Victoria's Secret! On the Window Displays they have actual pieces that were worn on the Catwalk!

View of the Olympic Park from Westfield. I will miss the Olympics and i thought i would take a snap just incase any of it changes..

A cheeky Nandos

A couple of my purchases. Trousers £12.99 H&M ( i really love them and i'm not a trousers girl!) Flowers £1.99 H&M Dita Von Teese Art Deco Eye Styler just over £9

Me in my Minty Cardigan from H&M (£17.99) whilst strolling through the park. My dress is Vintage which is also from Woodbridge Vintage Fair a couple of months back.

A face up of me in my first outfit for the Fashion show.

My 1940s look. Dress £29 from ebay. Hat as above! Shoes £15 from a Charity Shop possible 1940s/1950s real leather and made in France, they are a favourite as they go with anything.

Wonderful Art Deco Dita Von Teese Lipstick that I'm very happy to own. I shall do a write up about this in the week. I was so happy that Ipswich Debenhams actually has Dita Von Teese's make up, i was standing there for ages looking and trying out some of her products. It all looks so wonderful and of a great quality, i must buy the powder when my No 7 one runs out! As i purchased the eye styler above, two ladies said i looked like Dita which was very very kind!

Talking of lipstick here is a great quote by Bette Davis, a Old Hollywood beauty. I have to agree i cannot live without lipstick!

Until next time, lots of love from Demi xxx

Retro Room

Me in my outfit from the 'Retro Room'. Vintage hat & Blouse both £5

As there is a lack of Vintage Shops where I live, I'm quite often trying to see what I can find in Charity Shops! One Charity Shop has created it's own 'Retro Room' which has been there for quite a few months, over these past months I've purchased some beautiful vintage clothing and accessories. Some of the pieces sold especially the handbags range from late 1930s-1980s. People may that Charity Shops will overcharge for their Vintage but it is cheaper than many Vintage shops i have visited! As long as you know what you're looking for, you never know what you can find :)

Glorious pieces waiting for a rummage!
More nifty pieces. Home ware is also sold.

Beautifully decorated dressing table, gathered with perfume bottles galore.

Beautiful yellow shirt.

Skirt £5

Now about a post coming in the next week, a lot of the time i get asked about my hair and how i style it. Below is one of my easiest hairstyles to do and it can be very versatile and easy to play around with. If any of you have 'soft sticks' or 'bendy rollers' keep them and i will show you which pattern i follow and how i style my curls after!
